Some things just feel like magic, and being a New Orleans wedding photographer for this event was just that.  Renee and Nick combined the nostalgia of the 20’s with the intimacy of a small destination wedding, with their free spirited & anything goes mentality.  Some weddings inspire us with over the top decor. Others just by sheer size, but this one lit us up with it’s simplicity and style. Not to mention the warmth we felt from each and every guest there.  This Gatsby themed wedding was one of the greats, with everyone at this New Orleans wedding participating.  Adam and I agreed that each of us felt like we’d stepped into Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, really experiencing a true 1920’s New Orleans wedding.  The Marigny Opera house, a bit off the French Quarter was the perfect backdrop, and added to the authentic atmosphere.  Still, even with the unique style, food, music, and setting of this wedding, what stands out the most is the people.  More like friends than clients, and more like family than friends even, we have a special place in our hearts for Renee and Nick, and feel grateful to have been a part of this one of a kind evening.

Just thinking about this post and Kat & Chris gives me goosebumps. When I first knew we would be the lucky ones to document their wedding as a Dominican Republic wedding photographer at The Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro I was beyond excited to say the least!

We had the honor of meeting these two at a previous wedding of Jessica + B, and fell in love with their positive attitudes and fun personalities!! Just going through the photos gave us such joy every time we would see Kat’s glowing smile.

Their Dominican Republic wedding was attended by their closest family and friends and days full of poolside parties and fun dinners preceded the big day. As we spent more and more time with these two we grew to love and respect them, recognizing that a true friendship was in the making.

Fast forward to their wedding, it could not have been more perfect. The day started with laughing in both Kat and Chris’s rooms and you could feel excitement was in the air. Their ceremony, performed by our past client/friend, was intimate, heartfelt, joyful and inspiring. After dinner the dance floor was packed with glow-sticks and balloons and a dance party that was one for the books! It didn’t stop there as they made their way to “the boat” that had a secret bar/club under the deck and the festivities continued, ending the night with a jump into the pool, (which I may or may not have take part of). 😉

As hard as it was to say goodbye to Kat and Chris, we know this is not the end of our friendship. Thank you for having us cover your Dominican Republic wedding photographer needs, but thank you more for being an inspiration in our lives.

After sitting down with Caitlin & Max to discuss ideas and details for their perfect Austin wedding photography, we knew they had come up with something brilliant, non-traditional, personal and straight-up extraordinary. Their Austin wedding expressed “Life in Color”, and they couldn’t have been more spot on.  Beginning and ending the day at Palazzo Lavaca, one of Austin’s well kept secrets, and with their ceremony and reception taking place at Vuka, they created a celebration that was unique and creative, just like them.

They brought their wedding to life with vibrant colors as all of their guests dressed in outfits of brilliant tones! With Caitlin and Max keeping their outfits very “black-tie,” It created an atmosphere that was aesthetically beautiful. As the day progressed, the color continued from the clothing, to lighting, vibrant smoke bombs, a massive drop of confetti at the end of the reception and grand exit through their crowd of friends and family that showered them in rainbow sprinkles.

We made our way back to Palazzo Lavaca for the after party, where there was more dancing under disco lights, and relaxing within the eclectic walls of the beautiful mansion!

Thank you Caitlin & Max for having us capture your magical day!  It was truly one of a kind.
