Sally and Michael actually met during a job interview. She interviewed with him over the phone, but after she accepted the job, their desks ended up being next to each other. They became good friends, and the result was a Driskill Hotel wedding! Funnily enough, Michael’s parents met the same way.
Driskill Hotel Wedding
The couple chose the Driskill because it represented classic, historical Austin. They loved the feeling of the venue, and they ultimately wanted their wedding to be downtown. This way it was convenient for out-of-town guests. A great majority of their guests were from out of town, so they planned around that. They wanted to make sure people could have fun and not worry about the logistics.
Most of the wedding centered around flowers, so they covered the venue in flowers. Whether it was the ceremony or the reception, they were everywhere! Sally said, “I think flowers add such a romantic, intimate element, and that’s what we were going for.”
Memorable Moments
When it came to her Driskill Hotel wedding, Sally’s most memorable moment was walking down the aisle. She felt it was such an amazing feeling to see all of those familiar and loving faces who showed up to enjoy their special day with them. “Most importantly,” she says, “after a whirlwind weekend, I was so happy to see Mike standing at the end of the aisle. I couldn’t wait to marry my best friend.”
Sally and Michael also included their dog in the photos, even though she wasn’t officially in the wedding. Some of those photos turned out to be their favorites too!
Sally’s piece of advice when it comes to wedding planning is to enjoy it and the wedding day. You should do what makes the two of you happy, and then your guests will be happy.
Part of preparing for your wedding is hiring professionals who you can trust to be a part of your special day. I love working with unique and joyful couples like Sally and Michael, and their Driskill Hotel wedding was such fun. I would love to hear from you too!
