Claire and Jared are an adventurous couple who have traveled all over. They first met playing soccer in Denver, Colorado. They dated for a bit before Jared moved to Australia to get his Ph.D. in geophysics, and Claire moved to Chicago for her career in advertising. After moving back to California, Jared invited Claire to go to Iceland with him over New Year’s. She said yes, and they had an amazing time. Two years later, Jared proposed on New Year’s Eve, and they finally decided on a downtown Denver wedding!
Downtown Denver Wedding
Claire and Jared originally were looking at mountain locations and lodges, unsurprising since they got engaged while skiing. However, they were super disappointed with their options. As Claire put it, “You want us to pay a ton of money for a run-down shack and everything else is still extra? No. Thank. You.”
Luckily, Jared’s best friend and their officiant, Ben, has a friend who owns a loft space in downtown Denver. They looked through the space, and they loved it. It was perfect for their number of guests, had a lovely rooftop for their wedding ceremony, and the interior was already gorgeous. They didn’t need to worry too much about extra decorations. It was perfect!
Unique Unity Ceremony
For their downtown Denver wedding, they wanted unique elements that matched their personalities. Claire and her maid of honor, Emily, were discussing unity ceremonies, and Emily jokingly suggested a “unity volcano” since Jared studies volcanoes for work.
Claire laughed, but she mentioned the idea to Jared who loved it! They built a unity volcano from scratch – just like a middle school science fair project. Jared even painted fault lines! So, instead of lighting a candle, they each dropped mentos into the volcano for a “lava” eruption!
Claire and Jared focused on their priorities: getting their closest family and friends together, having fun, and eating great food. It was so much fun to shoot their beautiful and unique downtown Denver wedding. I would love to work with you as well!
