There’s nothing better than a fun wedding with an amazing couple. Katie and Darshan had an intimate Malverde wedding with many personal touches. They were able to spend time with their family and friends and dance the night away!
Malverde Wedding
When it came to their reception venue, the couple wanted a place where they didn’t have to decorate too much. Katie wasn’t too excited to come up with wedding decorations, and it was a big plus to have a place already decorated. They chose to have a Malverde wedding because of the existing beautiful space and, of course, they loved the food.
Located in downtown Austin, Malverde is La Condesa’s event space. It’s got gorgeous views of the city, and their catering is delicious. Not to mention, there’s the craft cocktails and artisanal beer and wine!
Katie and Darshan also had a larger wedding in India, so they wanted to make sure their US venues gave them time to interact with guests. Malverde and their ceremony location, Chapel Dulcinea, facilitated conversation and allowed them to mingle with their guests.
Fun and Personal Details
Katie and Darshan met salsa dancing, and they incorporated that into their first dance. They did a medley of salsa, bachata, and Bollywood. Their Bollywood moves came from one of their favorite Bollywood movies!
Perhaps the best part was their bouquet toss. Instead of a traditional toss, they did a “cat toss.” The DJ invited all the cat lovers to the dance floor, and Katie tossed a stuffed animal kitty into the crowd. Whoever caught the kitty would be the next newest cat owner! The couple loves cats, so this was a great and personal touch for their Malverde wedding.
When it came to their wedding photography, Katie and Darshan wanted more candid shots. They don’t enjoy posing for photos, so it was more about capturing those special, spontaneous moments throughout the day. Capturing candid moments is my specialty, so it was great to shoot their Malverde wedding. Katie’s biggest tip for wedding planning? “Hire Adam! Or at the very least make sure that you enjoy the company of your photographer! You will be spending a lot of time with them throughout the day!”
