There’s something about Hawaii that is pure magic. Aside from the breathtaking scenery, relaxing music, and the general hawaiian spirit, something about being on an island in the middle of the Pacific ocean makes it all feel a little more serene. Dreamlike, almost. For Mari and Kenji, I believe that feeling was even more tangible, since Hawaii is closer to the US mainland, where they both met while studying in the states. (They both are from, and live in Japan…and planned this whole perfect wedding from Tokyo!) Marrying between the continental US and their home of Japan served as the perfect poetic setting, bringing together two distinct parts of their lives for such a special occasion. They married in Honolulu, Hawaii at Lanikuhonua, which translates to “where heaven meets earth” – an ocean cove, where the wind blew through the palm trees and the sun set over the water. We couldn’t have asked for more, except possibly to not have to say goodbye. We cannot wait until our paths cross again, hopefully next time in Tokyo!!
