If you love fun weddings, with lots of personal details, you will love Leah and Will’s wedding! This couple was so much fun, and you can see it in all of the fun decor. Their theme was Star Wars + Dinosaurs, which they incorporated in many different ways. Guests first got a hint of the theme to come with the groomsmen’s attire. The groomsmen and groom wore lego Star Wars boutonnieres, while the bridesmaids included their favorite dinosaur on their bouquets. The ladies wore bright teal and mint dresses, perfect for the summer wedding.
Wedding at South Congress Hotel
When it came to the venue, the couple wanted guests to enjoy Austin. So they chose Café No Sé inside of South Congress Hotel. It let the guests stay right in the same hotel or a hotel just a few blocks away. The entrance had Stormtrooper balloons, greeting the guests. Star Wars and dinosaurs continued into the ceremony and reception! Table favors included glow stick lightsabers and paper-mâché dinosaurs. The table names were all dinosaur names fused with Star Wars characters. And the escort place cards were origami dinosaurs based on what meal they chose.
Another cool detail was how they tied in their proposal story! Will proposed to Leah using a Nintendo Switch, so Nintendo gifted the couple with a wedding topper. They met on Facebook since they had mutual friends in common (he was FB friends with her cousin!). While they first met ten years ago online, nothing came of it. But ten years later, Will saw Leah again in a picture, messaged her, and the rest is history!
Star Wars and Dinosaurs Theme
As Will told me, his most memorable part of the wedding was spending quality time with the bridal party. “[My most memorable part of the wedding was] Marrying my best friend of course, but also spending some quality time with the wedding party before the ceremony, taking photos after the ceremony, performing our first dance in front of a video montage my wife made.”
The couple wanted a unique wedding that wasn’t cookie cutter – and they did just that! As Leah’s most significant piece of advice for new couples? “The key to our successful relationship is communication. Take the time to really listen to each other and speak openly. Your relationship is not going to change once you get married, so make sure you’re with someone because you like who they are now, not their potential.”
